Masonry Services

Sales and Service

We install and service the products that we sell.  Our technicians attend technical training sessions each year to keep up to date with the changes made to our product lines.  With their training and experience you can rely on knowledgeable and quality installations and service.

Chimney Cleanings

chimney sweep2We offer annual chimney cleanings for wood burning systems.  A chimney cleaning consists of sweeping the chimney, the interior stove pipe and cleaning the interior of the appliance.  During this cleaning we inspect your complete system and report any deficiencies.  We check all gaskets on your wood stove and replace if necessary as well as reseal the flashing if required.

We also provide cleaning services for the pellet stoves we have installed.  Pellet stove cleanings include sweeping the venting system and removing the panels of the stove in order to clean and inspect motors and all hidden passages in behind the firebox.  Again, during the pellet service we report any deficiencies that may be found.  Not sure if we installed the pellet system in your home?  Give us a call, if it’s a brand we handle, we will be happy to schedule a service with you.

It is recommended that your wood burning and/or pellet system be inspected and cleaned annually to maximize its efficiency and keep your appliance in good working order for many years of use.

Once we install a wood or pellet system we send you a letter after the heating season to offer the annual cleaning of the appliance and chimney with a schedule of when we will be in your area for this service.  All you will need to do at this point is call or email to confirm the appointment.  Once we have cleaned your system you will receive a letter the following year for scheduling.

If you are interested in having our company provide this service for you, please call our office with your information and we can include you in our annual cleaning schedule.

Gas Fireplace / Stove Cleanings and Service

We provide cleanings and service to gas and propane fireplaces and stoves that we have installed.  If your glass is sooting up, the flame pattern is looking different, or the ignition is slow, it is time for service.  Please give us a call and we will set up an appointment with you.

SITE Inspections

A SITE Inspection is a visual inspection of your wood burning system by a WETT Certified person.  Most inspections are requested by the home owner’s insurance provider or at the time of a house sale.  When conducting an inspection we are checking the condition of the appliance and chimney system and verifying the installation meets all relevant codes.  It is important to have the home owner present at the time of inspection so if there are any deficiencies they can be explained and repairs can be discussed.

Chimney Liners

If you are experiencing down draft issues with your masonry chimney, or you see decay of your clay liner, then it is time to change to a stainless steel rigid liner before more issues occur.  Call us today and we will arrange a site visit to evaluate your chimney.

Payment

Final payment is to be made upon job completion. Payment can be made by e-transfer, cheque, cash, or debit - we do not accept credit cards.

For all masonry needs, please see our Masonry information page.

Is there a service you require that is not listed?  Give us a call, we may be able to help.

Why should my chimney be located inside the house?

The chimney is the engine of your wood burning system.

Wood stoves have become much more efficient over the years, releasing less and less heat out of the chimney. A chimney needs to be warm in order to draft properly. By installing the chimney inside the home, the pipes will stay warmer allowing the system to draft upwards. Outside chimneys with newer stoves will usually cause down draft, especially at initial start up so you are quickly opening windows to try and correct the draft. We always look for a way to install the chimney inside to avoid these issues.

My glass is black on my wood stove

There are a few things to check when your glass gets black. The most common cause is your wood is too wet. In this case you might also hear the wood sizzling as it burns and your heat output is lower than normal. Have your wood moisture content checked.

If your glass gets black along the edges, check your door gasket to see if the door is sealing up tight. It may be time to replace the gasket to create a snug fit again.

I changed the batteries in the remote for my gas fireplace, but it still doesn’t work

There will be a receiver usually located at the bottom of your fireplace which also requires batteries. This receiver will look like a black box with a compartment for batteries. When changing the batteries in your remote also change them in your receiver at the same time.

Do you service all brands of fireplaces and stoves?

We service the brands that we sell. If your system requires parts and we are not a dealer for that brand, it is difficult for us to obtain the parts and we may not have the technical experience to work on that system effectively.

If we did not install the system, but we are a dealer for the brand you have, give us a call as we will have access to the parts and also the technical knowledge to service your system.

Not sure if we installed your system or if we have access to parts? Give us a call with your system information and we will do our best to help.

harbers-group-shot

We are a family owned and operated business located on the outskirts of the small town Williamsburg in South Dundas Township. Joy and Brian Harbers began with Harbers Masonry in 1990 offering masonry services for both new and older homes. As time went on and the business grew, our services started to include chimney building, chimney restorations, re-linings, and fireplace facings. This led to the opening of Harbers Flame Centre & Masonry in 1995. We began with a modest showroom to present hearth products to our clients. Today we have a full line of wood, gas and pellet stoves and fireplaces to offer. Our showroom has seen many changes over the years, and will continue, as we constantly update our displays to reflect the designs and trends of today.

family owned and operated since 1990We only offer high efficient and excellent quality hearth products to our clients. Our philosophy is “use what you sell”. Before a fireplace or stove is offered at our store, we experiment and use the product ourselves first. This gives us the advantage to know what we are selling and how it will perform for you. When purchasing a heating system from us, a visit to our showroom is very helpful for you the consumer. We will discuss with you what type of system would be best suited for your home and lifestyle. Once we have determined what type of system would work for you, then we will schedule an on site visit to your home to help decide the location that would best suit the appliance and heating requirements. A formal estimate is done at that time after details of venting and installation is confirmed. We also offer design options to help complete the finishing touches of your fireplace.

Our quality of workmanship and service is regarded as a high standard in our company. We strive on providing you with the best possible support, service, and clean and efficient installations.

We invite you to come and visit our showroom. Let us offer you our knowledge and experience that allows you to make an informed decision about your heating system. Our goal is to provide you with a product and design that you can rely on and enjoy for many years to come.
